Helping your child develop and learn through creativity and fun.
Welcome to Acorns Nursery School. We aim to create an attractive and stimulating learning environment where children feel confident and secure. Acorns is committed to providing high quality care and education for 0-5 year olds.
"We have Forest School qualified staff who provide children with opportunities to develop their social and physical skills using real tools, in a safe and calm environment. Being outside is known to help stimulate children’s senses, develop their self-esteem and their confidence as they are encouraged to have a go."
What makes Acorns different
We follow a child-led approach to build resilience, ambition and a lifelong love of learning for every child.
Breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks are freshly prepared every day.
Our dedicated and qualified staff ensure that children are encouraged to develop to their full potential.
We build strong parent/carer partnerships focused on inclusion, openness and good communication.
At Acorns Nursery School we have multiple rooms equipped with resources appropriate for the children’s stage of development. We have carefully planned transitions between the rooms in collaboration with parents and the child’s key person.
(0-2 years old)
We recognise how important these first, formative months and years of a child’s life are. Our staff are trained to work specifically with babies and ensure they get emotional and physical nurturing alongside sensory stimulation.
Our Explorers use the garden multiple times throughout the day to help develop their physical skills and get fresh air.
(2-3 years old)
Staff plan for more challenging activities for our Innovators, which helps foster their language and literacy skills through social interaction. The children are encouraged to progress and become confident and independent in their play.
Our Innovators are prepared in readiness to move to the Pioneers class by learning numbers, days of the week, colours and some shapes in circle time. This also allows for quality time with their key person and helps form a secure attachment.
(3-5 years old)
Our Pioneers engage in a range of educational play opportunities to prepare them for school. The children become more independent as they take advantage of free-flow activities between indoors and outdoors.
We begin to further the children’s curiosity about how and why by using experiments such as sink and float activities. Staff also encourage the children to engage in sustained shared thinking through problem-solving. We aim for our children to become independent and autonomous learners.
Acorns partners with a company called Blossom Educational to provide parents with an app that gives them all the information they need whilst at the nursery. The app is used as the main form of communication and is used to send daily diaries, observations, nursery news and invoices.
We have received very positive feedback from parents on how the app has helped them to settle into nursery life and how much they enjoy getting updates/pictures of their children throughout the day.
Here is a selection of feedback we have received from our wonderful parents from our sister school, Conkers.
The staff do a wonderful job with the children, and they have had a truly positive impact on both of my children’s lives - thank you!"
“When visiting we observe a safe, happy and friendly environment for our daughter to thrive in. Her key worker goes above and beyond to make sure she is settled in."
“We use the blossom app, which is great to follow our daughters day and see the progress she is making. We like the golden moment photos and hearing what she has been up to."
