Our Classrooms
At Acorns Nursery School we have multiple rooms equipped with resources appropriate for the children’s stage of development. We have carefully planned transitions between the rooms in collaboration with parents and the child’s key person.
Baby Room
(0-2 years old)
We recognise how important these first, formative months and years of a child’s life are. Our staff are trained to work specifically with babies and ensure they get emotional and physical nurturing alongside sensory stimulation.
Our Baby Room uses the garden multiple times throughout the day to help develop their physical skills and get fresh air.
Toddler Room
(2-3 years old)
Staff plan for more challenging activities for our Toddler Room, which helps foster their language and literacy skills through social interaction. The children are encouraged to progress and become confident and independent in their play.
Our Toddlers are prepared in readiness to move to the Pre-school class by learning numbers, days of the week, colours and some shapes in circle time. This also allows for quality time with their key person and helps form a secure attachment.
Pre-school Room
(3-5 years old)
Our Pre-school Room engages in a range of educational play opportunities to prepare them for school. The children become more independent as they take advantage of free-flow activities between indoors and outdoors.
We begin to further the children’s curiosity about how and why by using experiments such as sink and float activities. Staff also encourage the children to engage in sustained shared thinking through problem-solving. We aim for our children to become independent and autonomous learners.
Nursery Software
Acorns partners with a company called Blossom Educational to provide parents with an app that gives them all the information they need whilst at the nursery. The app is used as the main form of communication and is used to send daily diaries, observations, nursery news and invoices.
We have received very positive feedback from parents on how the app has helped them to settle into nursery life and how much they enjoy getting updates/pictures of their children throughout the day.
Happy Parents
Here is a selection of feedback we have received from our wonderful parents.
